Tradition
Modernity
Open to all, Mashiko ware embraces a sense of freedom.
Through adding a unique sense of individual touch, I bring forth a new speciality to Mashiko.
Passion for Pottery
My strengths stem from being born and bred in a country town Mashiko, being surrounded by folk craft from a young age;
Unconsciously becoming an exceptional form of education to me and the underlying inspiration of my works.
On top of this, being a traditional tea master; combining all of these elements to create the classic Mashiko is my speciality.
I work to create unique pieces, that only I can through expressing my gratitude to my origins, Mashiko.
Simply put, having the users of my creations smile, is my motivation and passion!
That's all there is to it.
The signature technique I use is inlay. Through using this technique, I strive to use Mashiko materials as much as possible, working as a native Mashiko artisan.
Inlay involves embedding different materials into a base; a practice not only used specifically in pottery but across other forms of arts and crafts such as woodwork and sculpture.
